Kalpana Palat from the Nalwa village of Dungarpur district was born into a family that worked on a farm for livelihood. With perpetual financial struggles, she got married at a young age and within three years gave birth to two daughters. She was rendered homeless by her husband, to fend for herself and her daughters when she came in contact with Jeevan Ashram Sanstha. She is joined the workforce and is an active member of the Sanstha working towards AIDS awareness advocacy.
